This last pair that I bought from Amazon was at a good price with FAST shipping. Over time the lights wear out from normal day to day wear. And because of that, I have bought probably 6 to 7 pairs of these lights over a 15 year span. The last two orders have been ordered through Amazon. I have found the same lights on other web sites... but for a lot more money. These driving lights throw out a lot of light for the price. They have a great beam that really let you see what is ahead of you at night. Very complete and robust product with heavily galvanized hardware. Due to the flimsy bumper on my Tacoma, an under-bumper mount was necessary. And, the Hella 550 allows the lamp assembly to completely reverse within the lamp housing to accommodate either an above or below the bumper mounting. More than enough wire was provided. Due to ball-socket type mount, the lamps were very easy to aim and lock into position. Quality of light was exceptional. While they have transitioned from Metal casings to Plastic the quality has for the most part remained good. The bigger the light Lens and reflector the more road illumination can be obtained for the same wattage bulb. These are the second largest rectangular lights you can find from Hella with the 450 series being almost double the size. They come with 55watt bulbs but you can use a larger wattage bulbs. Only the 55 watt bulbs are DOT street legal ;) I highly recommend these lights if you have the real-estate to support their size. |
