First, this unit is the ONLY aftermarket wiring harness I have been able to find that works with a 2005 Chevy Equinox LT that has Onstar and "premium" sound. All the other wiring harnesses out there by other vendors (PAC, Schorsche) will disable your OnStar.

Now, the product and documentation is fairly good even a newbie like myself could understand it. However, it does not integrate very well with Metra's own AWSC Steering Wheel control harness, which is surprising. Apparently Metra didn't bother to actually use two of their own products together. The issue is that the AWSC requires two leads on the wiring harness (pins A9 and A10) and Metra does not have leads on THEIR wiring harness (GMOS-08) for pins A9 and A10. As a result, you have to splice into the GM Factory harness.

It would've been nice if Metra had put the chime volume control on the outside of the unit (accessible via a phillips screwdriver) instead of requiring you to pop open the GMOS08, but... Read more
